Cornelia Van Rijswijk is an artist and designer based in Naarm / Melbourne, Australia.
Her multidisciplinary practice explores the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and experimental techniques. Her current work focuses on upcycling and reworking pre-loved garments and end-of-line fabric remnants. Her process involves deconstructing these materials using various methods before renewing them with intricate mending techniques. Her pieces often incorporate motifs derived from her automatic drawing, which explores themes of the subconscious mind.
In addition to her fashion practice, Cornelia has contributed to the film industry, working in editorial departments for projects such as General Hercules (2022) and Viv’s Silly Mango (2022). She also served as a production designer and title designer for Flathead (2024), which earned her the Golden Owl Award for Art Design at the 14th Festival Internacional de Cinema Balneário Camboriú.
